Velfrey Vineyard Pembrokeshire Welsh Vineyard view

Our Vineyard

The Vineyard

Established in 2016, Velfrey Vineyard occupies a gentle south facing slope in the south Pembrokeshire countryside.

We have over 4,000 vines planted across 3 acres.

We are a family run vineyard and pride ourselves on our attention to every detail.

The vines are planted in clay loam, a soil type which is found in some of the world's most prestigious wine growing regions.

Pembrokeshire sunshine combined with coastal breezes will produce perfect ripening conditions and lead to wines of the highest quality.

Our Grape Varieties

  • Pinot Noir - The classic sparkling varietal, Pinot Noir's  thin skins and low tannin levels make it perfect for cooler climate conditions. Produces high quality, complex wines.

  • Seyval Blanc -  A white variety ideally suited to cooler climate vineyards. Capable of producing world class, award winning sparkling wines.

  • Solaris - Produces wonderful perfumed and subtly fruity wines. The low acidity and high sugars of this early ripening white grape translate into a gorgeous single varietal still white wine.

Ryan

Ryan is their eldest son who helped plant the seed of turning the site into a vineyard. You'll find Ryan outside - rain or shine - tending to the vines needs.

Fiona is the other half of the duo at the helm. She takes care of sales, blog posts and looking after our cut flower patches.

Andy is one of the owners of Velfrey. When he's not leading a tour he's out in the vines - especially if it involves the tractor!
